Prize-Winning Author Gabino Iglesias Joins Faculty

We're pleased to announce that prize-winning novelist and book critic Gabino Iglesias has joined the Low Residency MFA @ UCR as a Visiting Assistant Professor.
 

Gabino Iglesias holds a PhD in Journalism from the University of Texas, an MA in Journalism from the University of Puerto Rico, and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Puerto Rico. He is the author of five books, which have been released to increasing acclaim each time, beginning with  Gutmouth (2012), Hungry Darkness (2015), Zero Saints (2015) Coyote Songs (2018), and then 2022’s The Devil Takes You Home, which has been nothing short of a sensation, earning the Bram Stoker for the Novel, the Shirley Jackson Award for the Novel, and was a finalist for the Edgar Award, the Anthony Award, the Reading the West Award, and landed on numerous Best Of lists for the year. His novels have been published in the UK, Turkey, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Spain, and France. Gabino’s short fiction has also been published to great acclaim and has been widely anthologized, including in Best American Mystery & Suspense. In addition to his fiction, Gabino is one of the top literary critics in the nation, appearing regularly on NPR and in the Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Alta, and more, and is an active member of the National Book Critics Circle and the Horror Writers Association.

The Low Residency MFA @ UCR was founded in 2008 and over the course of the last fifteen years has produced best-selling and award-winning fiction & nonfiction writers, top screenwriters for both film and TV, prize-winning playwrights, and one United States Congressman.
