Maggie Downs is an award-winning journalist and columnist, appearing in the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, Eating Well, the Cincinnati Enquirer, and the (Palm Springs) Desert Sun. Her literary writing has been featured on the Rumpus, Punchnel’s and The Write Life, among other publications, and her short fiction, “The Frequent Flier,” won the Eaton Science Fiction Short Story Prize in 2013. She is anon-fiction candidate in UCR Palm Desert’s low-residency MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. She lives in Palm Springs with her husband, a ninja cat and a blind and deaf dog.
