Kari HawkeyKari Hawkey is a poet with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California Riverside’s low residency program at Palm Desert. Kari is currently an intern poetry editor with Smartish Pace. Kari is also a professor of Research Methods in the Masters of Education department at the California State University, Fullerton, as well as a public school English teacher since 2002. In her spare time, Kari is a designer focusing upon eco-friendly, high-end interior design, and she is a certified LEED GreenAP. In 2011, she was chosen to serve as an editor for the revision of secure questions and responses on the California High School Exit Exam (CHASEE) Content Writing and Review Panel for the California Department of Education. Every summer, she attends poetry camp at the Idyllwild Arts Academy. Kari was Poetry Editor at The Coachella Review, and a reader for The Whistling Fire. Her work has appeared in Burningword and Straightforward. She was a finalist for the 2013 Pocataligo Poetry Prize. Kari resides in Huntington Beach, California.
