William Rabkin has written and/or produced more than 300 hours of dramatic television. He served as showrunner on the long-running Dick Van Dyke mystery series Diagnosis Murder and on the action-adventure spectacle Martial Law. His many writing and producing credits include Monk, Psych, Nero Wolfe, Missing, Spenser: For Hire, seaQuest 2032, Hunter and The Cosby Mysteries. He has also written a dozen network TV pilots, including adaptations of two best-selling mystery series, Mary Higgins Clark’s The Lottery Winners and Aimee and David Thurlo’s Ella Clah. In 2003, his non-fiction book Successful Television Writing, written with Lee Goldberg, was published by John Wiley and Sons. His first novel, Psych: A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Read will be published by NAL in January, 2009; his second, Psych: Mind Over Magic will follow in July, 2009. He has been nominated twice for the Edgar award for best television episode by the Mystery Writers of America. A member of the UCLA Extension faculty since 1995, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Digital Film Department at Stephens College, Columbia, MO and lectured on television writing and production in Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands. Mr. Rabkin is part of the core faculty of UCR-Palm Desert’s MFA in Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts.
