Dorothy Rice is a native San Franciscan living in Sacramento with her husband, the youngest of five children, and a menagerie of pets, including a black cat that thinks she’s a dog and a guinea pig named Marmalade-Jam whose thoughts are, as yet, unclear. Recently retired from a 35-year career in environmental protection during which she clambered up the rungs of the state civil service ladder. Her work has appeared in numerous magazines and journals including The Rumpus,  Serving HouseStill Point Arts Quarterly, The American River Review, and others.
